¹⁷ If you ·refuse [^Ldo not listen/obey us] to be circumcised, we will take ·Dinah [^Lour daughter] and ·leave [go].”

¹⁸ What they asked seemed fair to Hamor and Shechem [^Lthe son of Hamor]. ¹⁹ So ·Shechem quickly went to be circumcised [^Lthe man did not delay to do this thing] because he ·loved [delighted in] Jacob’s daughter.

Now Shechem was the most ·respected [honored] man in ·his family [^Lhis father’s house].
